Zune is too slow


Apple's founding CEO Steve Jobs has dismissed Microsoft's upcoming competitor Zune flippantly, saying its music sharing technology is too slow.

"It takes forever," Mr Jobs told Newsweek in an interview posted on the magazine's web site on Sunday. "By the time you've gone through all that, the girl's got up and left."

In the interview with Steven Levy, Jobs also explained how Apple convinced music companies to open their warehouses to iTunes and not to raise prices.

Unbox : cannot burn to DVD



Online shopping giant Amazon.com has launched a digital TV and film download service in the US called Amazon Unbox.
Backed by top Hollywood studios and TV channels, including Warner Brothers and CBS, Amazon Unbox will offer programmes and films direct to users' computers.

However, there is no capability to burn to DVD and the device piece of the puzzle is missing.

Tata to buy Anglo-Ducth Steel

India's largest private steel company, Tata Steel Ltd., is in talks to buy the Anglo-Dutch steel giant, Corus, and has valued the company between 8 to 10 billion dollars, Times of India daily said Thursday.

"Even as Tata Steel has officially denied any takeover plans, there is mounting speculation that the Tatas are in talks to acquire a majority holding in the company for anything between 8-9 billion dollars," the India daily reported.

The defence ministry has told European politicians to stop interfering in the future of Airbus parent EADS, the Times said on Thursday (5th Oct 2006) after an interview with Defence Procurement Minister Lord Paul Drayson. Iran to spend $3.5b on petrol imports

The Iranian parliament passed a bill allowing the government to spend as much as $3.5 billion on gasoline imports to meet demand for the product in the local market, the Iran Daily newspaper reported, citing unidentified officials.The Iranian government may start importing gasoline in the first quarter next year, the newspaper reported.
